Missions

Missions provide essential opportunities for us to reach out to those around us. High Street United Methodist Church is involved in many outreach and mission projects which benefit our local community, neighboring areas and people around the world. Here are some projects we are involved in and some ways you can help! If you’d like to help, call the church office at 781-585-9863.

Mechuwana Maine - A great experience for all!
It was a productive and fun week with old friends and new. If you’re interested in joining next year’s Mis-sion Team, ask any of this year’s HSUMC participants more about their experience this summer: Jamie Smith, Caroline McSherry, Sue Johnson, Mame, Tessa, and Kevin Kell, Melissa Bristol, Tom Blanchard, Julia Connell, and Patti Keagy.
United Methodist Board on Global Ministries
This Board is a major arm of the United Methodist church and serves people in need in our country and around the world. Our United Methodist Committee on Relief is one of the first on site in disaster situations. Through these ministries our church offers food, shelter, education and hospitals to people in need, provides hope for those in poverty, disasters, abusive situations, and in oppressive places, and shares the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ with the world.
Duxbury Interfaith Council
We work with the churches in Duxbury to foster an interfaith spirit in our community and to help those in need with outreach, such as summer camp scholarships, and food baskets at the holidays. Financial gifts are always appreciated.
Pembroke Food Pantry
We supply canned goods and other non-perishable items to the pantry on a regular basis. You can contribute by leaving items in the large basket on the missions table in the Fellowship Hall.
Mainspring House
Members of our church visit this homeless shelter in Brockton on the third Friday of each month to serve a meal to those who are housed at Mainspring. We need people like you to help serve and to bake cakes for dessert!
National and World Missions
Members of our congregation have traveled to Maine to repair houses in rural Maine and lend a hand at the state-wide food distribution center for shelters. Others have traveled to Ghana on a work team to build a church and Sunday School building, lead Vacation Bible School and share the word of Christ.
