Machias Mission

"...Love your neighbor as yourself."  Matthew 19:19

The term "Mission Work" evokes images of trips to far away lands where people suffer in poverty and really need the love of God in their lives. The fact is that we don't have to leave New England to find those same needs. Machias, located in far northeastern Maine, is an area in need - our Machias Mission works with Pastor Betty Palmer of the Jacksonville United Methodist Church to meet the needs of both permenent residents and migrant workers.

You can support the Machias mission by providing for the material needs of these people.

Migrant and Seasonal Worker Ministry

Migrant workers come from as far away as Central America to work harvesting blueberries with little more than the clothes on their backs. To learn more about these people and the Migrant Ministry, read this full-length article in The Bangor Daily News.

There is also a short video on the subject produced by the United Methodist Church.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors Ministry

How many times have you recognized a neighbor's need, but didn't have the necessary aid resources working alone? This ministry not only helps people identify their neighbors' needs, it brings together the manpower and material resources to fulfill those needs in Washington County, Maine, one of the poorest counties in all of New England.
